As a youngster, I always had a fascination with Graphics and Motion Design. I would rush home from school and jump straight on YouTube to watch tutorials and try to create whatever I could on whatever free software I could get my hands on. It was this passion that landed me my first role at ITN known for being at the heart of the media landscape, producing daily award-winning news programmers for ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5.
After 2 years of mastering my craft, I now work as part of the Motion Design Team at SKY.
AM
The week usually starts on a Monday. I start the day by checking my emails and then jump straight into a design meeting with the Head of Design.
After the meeting, each designer is allocated a newsroom team that they will be working with during the week.
I then attend another meeting with the newsroom team and we run through the project brief and creative direction
Once the meeting is over I get straight to work.
PM
After a quick bit of lunch, I make sure everything is complete and send it off to marketing. Once I get some feedback and do some amendments it gets signed off and appears Online or on TV.
- If you want to become a designer always make sure you have an updated showreel and a website that showcases your best work.
- If you are headed to an interview always show the interviewer, you are not the finished article as you are willing to learn and don’t dress too smart or too casually.
