I first graduated with a degree in Sports Science at Marmara University, then furthered my education by taking undergraduate courses at BPP University in London. I am also a former national volleyball player and have played professionally in the Fenerbahçe team for years. When I was in England, I gained an internship and work experience with premier league teams. My thesis on stress and anxiety management has been published in the academic world.
I gained significant experience from conducting surveys and studies with more than 250 elite athletes who were not only footballers but basketball and volleyball players as well. Since the beginning of this year, I have continued my studies by establishing a sports health unit in a hospital in Istanbul. The biggest benefit of a sports psychologist? They help the athlete and team achieve their best performance.
AM
First, I wake up at 6:40 am, shower then prepare my morning cup of coffee. Next, I start my work as usual. This usually involves answering some emails and calling some of the athletes I am responsible for, as there are 4 different magazines that I write for them. I categorize my duties into daily, weekly, and monthly plans.
PM
I have meetings and sessions at a hospital that vary day to day, which affects match and training times because I need to be on the field as well.
- This job requires dedication.
- The work we do needs to be unique to every athlete.
- It’s important to be open to surprises, good or bad because they happen all the time.
