Nadyia Dunston

Stylist

The journey began with modelling, with my mum being a model, it triggered my passion for fashion, however, after spending some years modelling, I began to draw more satisfaction from the creative side and ventured into personal shopping. Immediately I focused on skills, training on shape color, and fit analysis which was the cornerstone of knowledge in this area. I pressed on to get a degree in Fashion Management and started styling independently. Doors opened in many areas, doing articles for newspapers, fashion shows and shoots for the web. I have worked styling for a movie, styled for Red Carpet events, and work closely with PR & Marketing teams for branded social accounts. Shortly after moving to London, I was approached by River Island to help create a styling subsection for the brand. It was a challenge I chose to accept, creating this bespoke service with my manager for personal styling in River Island, and now I am an assistant manager across all the studios, currently creating a new Style Studio sub-brand across multiple stores throughout the country.

  1. Always dress the customer based on THEIR lifestyle/individual needs
  2. ENJOY the learning experience on the journey. The more your style, the more your database grows in terms of what works for different people and how to get results. Never shy away from opportunities to learn. With so many different facets of styling to consider, make sure you fully understand who you are going with and what they are looking for as well as delivering on the style they want.
  3. Qualifications are just as important as hands on experience. Learn the foundations of styling, understand them fully. You will learn so much on the job, take time to merge the two together.
