Amiko Simonetti

FASHION DESIGNER

After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, I cycled between working full-time and freelancing. By working for different brands, I learned how to design a broad range of products including outerwear, denim jackets, knit and woven shirts, dresses, etc. I also learned a lot about trend forecasting and branding.

AM

Some mornings I get up and journal before starting my workday. I find it good practice to check in with myself and re-align with my purpose. Some mornings I don’t stick to the plan and I get right on my laptop. Besides my occasional morning routine, my day isn’t that structured. I try to put myself on a schedule but every day is different depending on the type of project I’m working on. Generally, I spend my days doing design research, sketching, working on my blog and website, communicating with clients, and trying to fit in some personal creative time.

PM

It’s so important for me to work out after the day is done and eat dinner with my man.

  1. I try to be intentional with my energy, time and focus. Staying connected to my underlying purpose or mission is essential. It’s easy to get caught up in “busy work” but what is the most meaningful work?
  2. Develop genuine self-love and compassion. Forgive yourself generously for mistakes. Advocate for yourself like you would your best friend. Accept yourself completely. When you operate from solid self-esteem, you won’t run the danger of selling yourself short.
  3. Fewer expenses, more investment. Where can you spend time, energy, or money where you will get a greater return than you put in? I’m not just talking financials. Learning, exercise, developing meaningful connections, starting a business, etc.
