STORYBOARD ARTIST

Professional Storyboard Artist for live-action films, television, and commercials. I have worked on the television series 9-1-1Mayans MC, Supergirl and The Flash. Commercial campaigns I have storyboarded include State Farm, Gatorade, Liberty Mutual, ESPN, Square, Kia, Starbucks, The Home Depot, Xbox, and Ant-man and The Wasp.

I originally got my start in the film industry working on-set as an assistant cameraman for films, commercials, and music videos; which gave me a technical understanding of the filmmaking process.

I am an Art Directors Guild Member – Local 800.

For a freelancer, every day is different and can be unpredictable
Whether or not I am booked on a job, I always like to start my day with coffee and yoga.

– If I am booked on a job…
– Read over decks, scripts, etc.
– Brief with director/producer.
– Draw out a rough first pass.
– Go over notes with the director/producer.
– Tidy up the boards, send off for approval.

If not booked, then I will spend the day with son Aiden, who’s 18 months old. Being a stay at home dad when not working is the best!
In the evening, I’ll work on my own artwork, follow up with clients, paperwork, or spend time with my wife Erin.

  1. Draw all the time! It truly is the best way to grow as an artist. For a storyboard artist, it’s important to keep your understanding of structural anatomy and perspective sharp!
  2. Learn as much as you can about your profession. Network with other artists, not just potential clients.
  3. Manage your expectations. There is no overnight success in this business. Set for yourself long term goals and short term goals. Then break those goals down into daily tasks so it feels like you’re making strides. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
