I am a sound technician for audiovisual sound. I got my sound technician degree in Tenerife, Canary Islands. Upon the completion of my studies, I moved to Madrid to work in a sound post-production studio where I worked as an ADR recordist, recording and dubbing work. Once my internship at the company ended, I moved to Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands and started studying cinema at “Instituto del Cine Canarias.” Now, I dedicate myself to the recording of series and movies, along with audiovisual content and its post-production.
AM
I get up early and look at the call sheet to be clear about what is going to be shot that day. I’m going for the set. Once I get to the set, I check all the material that I am going to use that day. Then, I prepare everything, talk to the AD, and place hidden microphones for the actors. Once that is finished, I begin to check that the signals from all the microphones have arrived correctly. Next, we start recording. While on set, I am always paying attention to possible noises that could damage the recording and make sure it is being recorded correctly.
PM
As we finish out the day, I make sure to give everything that has been recorded to whom it may concern. Then, I remove the hidden microphones from the actors, put the batteries away to charge for the next day, and prepare all the material for the next day. Lastly, I take a look at the call sheet for the next day, then go home to get some sleep.
- Always be prepared for what could go wrong
- Enjoy every day of the work you do and never stop improving yourself
- Be clear about what you want to record in the pre-production and write everything down so you don’t forget anything
