- TIPS
I started programming at school. I learned the basics of programming with java. I loved the idea that you can create your own simulations, your own world, with your own rules and features. I learned Unity 3D to make good 3D Games without a Big team. I wanted to use my creativity without limitations, that is why I am an Indie Game Developer. Mostly I program mobile games but I also make pc games.
AM
- First I test my program
- Afterwards, I look in my calendar and access what I still have to do.
- After that, I start programming.
- On some days I also practice other things like how to create 3D models, create textures or how to work with new programs.
PM
- After lunch, I do some sports and then continue working.
- Afterwards, I usually watch a few videos on the subject of programming to educate myself further.
- In the evening I test my program again and note down in my calendar what I still need to work on.
- If you want to learn something new, such as a new programming language or a program, don’t spend too much time learning everything. Learn only the basics then start a small project right away. Because the best way to learn the rest is to look online when you get an error or if you really don’t know how to do something specific. I personally took the unity beginner course and then started a project right away.
- You should only program games which you personally would play. Because when you have an invested interest in the game you will get really great ideas to make it more fun and you will also have more fun to program it. Do not solely make games for Money. I personally play my games a lot and when I play games I’ve programmed, I get always new ideas to improve them.
- Do a lot of advertising. Advertising is important to make money. As an Indie Game Developer, no one knows you and your work. That means not many will want to buy your game as you’re an unknown name. So always look for good ways to advertise your games, the more the better.
