MARKETING EXECUTIVE

My journey began working at an IT sales recruitment company in 2018. A year later, I moved to an Executive Search company that places leaders in fashion, Beauty, Luxury & Lifestyle. Email marketing and organising events are key to this role as they are really effective ways to engage your network and build relationships. Creating relevant content and media is also crucial when attracting clients and candidates. In my role, daily tasks are varied – I write scripts and blogs, film videos, record podcasts, write email templates and newsletters as well as posting on social media.

AM

I write my key tasks in my day planner. Splitting them into 3 large tasks, 5 medium tasks, and then smaller tasks.

The times that social posts go out can be really important when wanting to reach the right audience, so sometimes my day will start at 7:30 am with a social media post.

I like going through my emails first thing as this helps shape my day and organise what tasks I’m doing.

Content creation and strategy are key to my role. So I will work on creating a blog / micro-content video /social media posts and then devise a plan for the best way to release and promote this content.

PM

I work quite flexibly, so sometimes I will take a longer lunch and work into the evening – it depends on what I have to do that day.

As well as content, I work on engaging with PR contacts and speakers/attendees for events, so checking emails and getting back to them asap is important.

I also reach out to potential clients and customers and it’s really important to tailor your approach as well as make sure they are added to the database. Communicating with colleagues is important here so everyone is on the same page and we speak about ideas to effectively engage with contacts.

  1. I’ve spoken about it a lot, but having a day planner and a planning method – whatever the method – really helps. It’s also satisfying and motivating to physically cross tasks off your list.
  2. Always think about your audience. You can create an amazing piece of content but if it’s not relevant to the audience you’re trying to reach then what’s the point? When creating content and planning its release, always have an end purpose in mind.
  3. Communicating with your team and having regular catch-ups is a great way to stay focused and an opportunity to develop ideas.
