- TIPS
I began my career in journalism only a couple of years ago. I remember I’d just finished my degree in languages and was super scared of entering the ‘real’ world – so I decided to apply for a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. Mid-course I was told I had to find work experience, but I wasn’t a big fan of working for free, so I was secretly looking for jobs. I, fortunately, got a job at the BBC before I finished my course and started working in the BBC newsroom as a media coordinator. 8 months later, my friend contacted me saying they had an opportunity for me at Euronews and I should apply. I did, and soon after got the job, moved to France, and got the chance to be in charge of all the English social media pages at Euronews.
AM
I run all of Euronews’s English social media accounts so it’s my jobs to choose what articles work better for Twitter and Facebook.
I then move on to creating videos for each social media platform.
I source and clear any content I find, curate different styles for Instagram, set up live coverages for all platforms, and share any content I’ve sourced and found with the other language teams.
PM
Same job in the evening.
- Be humble, listen to all advice and criticism, it might hurt your pride a bit, but in the end it’ll make you stronger.
- Don’t look at people beside you, only concentrate on yourself. If you work hard you will achieve everything you possibly can. Whatever it is, if it’s more or less than what others have achieved – remember it doesn’t matter – you are achieving your dreams at your own pace.
- Work – life balance. It’s important, don’t forget it.
